Speaker: Sara Hutchinson, University of Lethbridge
Sara Hutchinson will present an overview of what we currently know about the so-called Villa of Titus in Central
Italy. This Roman and Medieval site has been excavated by teams from Saint Mary’s University and McMaster University since 2018. In this presentation, Sara will speak to the history of the site and area, the research goals at the site, methodologies employed during excavations, and her experiences excavating there in the summer of 2023.
Sara Hutchinson is an undergraduate student at the University of Lethbridge. This summer, she partook in the
excavations at the Villa of Titus to grow her international and excavation experience. She previously participated in a field school supervised by Dr. Shawn Bubel and Dr. Kevin McGeough at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump and has worked in professional archaeology. Sara is the Vice-President of the university’s archaeology club, and she is the student representative for the U of L on the Canadian Archaeological Association Student Board.
