Volunteer Opportunity: ASA Newsletter Co-Editor
The Archaeological Society of Alberta (ASA) is seeking a Newsletter Co-Editor to help produce our 3-times-a-year newsletter. This role is ideal for students in archaeology, anthropology, history, or related fields who want hands-on experience in editing, communications, and community outreach.
Role Description
As Newsletter Co-Editor, you will work alongside the Provincial Coordinator to:
Use Canva to design and format the newsletter.
Edit and proofread content for clarity and accuracy.
Help select and organize stories, announcements, and images.
Maintain consistency in style and ASA branding.
Support the goal of making archaeology in Alberta engaging and accessible.
Qualifications
Experience with Canva (or a willingness to learn).
Strong interest in archaeology, anthropology, or heritage.
Good writing and editing skills.
Reliability and ability to meet deadlines.
Time Commitment
5–10 hours per month prior to the month deadline (flexible, depending on the issue).
January - April (publish at end of April)
May - August (publish at end of August)
September - December (publish at beginning of January).
Remote position – work from anywhere, in coordination with the Provincial Coordinator.
